Anil Ambani-led Reliance Defence and Engineering Limited (RDEL) has changed its name to Reliance Naval and Engineering Limited (R-NAVEL), substantiating the company's intensive efforts to concentrate on naval shipbuilding as a principal focus segment.

The change of name is effective from September 6, 2017 and the company has received the necessary approval for the change of name, said a company statement.

R-NAVEL, a subsidiary of Reliance Infrastructure, is one of the two private sector shipyards in India to undertake large and tactical programmes of Indian Navy and Indian Coast Guard, viz. Indigenous Air Craft Carriers, Landing Platform Docks, Frigates and P75I submarines.
