No restructuring of the workforce is likely at Philips India due to the global decision to separate the lighting and the healthcare divisions. Philips India is a subsidiary of Royal Philips of Netherlands.
“The decision to separate the lighting and the consumer and healthcare activities of Philips will take place in all the 17 countries where the company has a presence,” an official spokesperson said.
“It is a longish plan whose implementation will start in early 2015 and get completed in 2016,” the spokesperson said.
No recast of manpower is envisaged in the process although there may be some redeployment in tune with the realignment of businesses.
There are an estimated 4,500 employees at Philips India.
The Indian subsidiary of one of Europe’s best known brands has its registered office in Kolkata and its corporate office in Gurgaon.
