Mercedes-Benz India has created a record in the Indian the luxury car market by selling over 10,000 units in three quarters. The German luxury car brand has sold 10,079 units during January-September 2015 period as against 7,529 units in a year ago period, registering 34 per cent growth.

With this number, the company has almost equalled the entire 2014 sales volume (10,201 units), in the first nine months of 2015. During July-September quarter, the company posted 22 per cent rise in sales at 3,420 units.

While the other German luxury brands are battling to boost sales, Mercedes-Benz continues to attract buyers supported by new products and network expansion.

This stellar growth is enabled by a strong customer preference of the entire portfolio comprising the new generation cars, the sedans, the SUVs and the performance cars, said a company statement.

“The success of the first three quarters has been in line with our expectations and we are confident of achieving our target of a sustainable double digit growth. We not only launched 12 new products and revived the market, but also inaugurated 13 new outlets taking our network reach to an unsurpassable 80 outlets spanning across 39 cities. We will also redefine the luxury SUV segment with the launch of the new GLE on 14th October, Roland Folger, Managing Director & CEO, Mercedes-Benz India.

The sedan portfolio has grown stronger by 39 per cent in the January-September 2015 period, while the SUV portfolio grew by an impressive 70 per cent, he added.
