In its biggest order in India so far, German luxury car maker Mercedes on Thursday said it would supply 120 C-Class sedans to car rental firm Carzonrent.
The deal is pegged at around Rs 40 crore.
"This is the biggest single corporate deal by Mercedes-Benz in India. These 120 cars will be delivered in about four weeks across Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, Hyderabad and Chennai," Mercedes-Benz India Managing Director & CEO Eberhard Kern said.
Meanwhile, talking to reporters, Carzonrent MD Rajiv Vij said the addition of 120 Mercedes-Benz C-Class units will increase the premium and luxury fleet size to 800 cars.
Asked about the the company's future plans, he said the company is looking at taking total number of cars in fleet to 30,000 vehicles in the next three years, of which around 15 per cent would be luxury cars.
"Our fleet size is currently around 7,500 cars. In the next three years we plan to invest around Rs 1,200 crore to take it to 30,000 units by 2017," he said.
For the luxury car ramp up, Carzonrent intends to invest about Rs 100 crore annually.
"After the deal with Mercedes, we are still left with Rs 60 crore to invest this year. Besides adding luxury sedans, we would also looking to add sports utility vehicles, vans and mid sized cars in the fleet," he said.
The company presently does a business of around Rs 30 crore a month in India and employs 8,000 drivers.
