Major BSNL cable damage hits services in Jaipur

BSNL’s landline and broadband services of about 1,000 customers have been hit due to major damage the telco’s under ground cable network in the city, an official said.

Telephone and Internet services of banks SBI, SBBJ, BOB, UCO bank, news agency office ( PTI ), corporate offices were hit in Bajaj Nagar zone covering Bapu Nagar, Tonk Road, Vidhan Sabha area, an official of Divisional Engineer office told PTI .

The underground cables were chopped by multi—flat builders while laying sewer connection on the Rajendra Marg, and the damaged cable were further inundated in fresh rains occurred in last two days in the city, the officer said.

“It was difficult to find faults though technical and engineering staff members are on their jobs to find faults and repair,” the officer said. It was not the OFC (optical fibre cable), but copper wire cable which required lot of better sunny days to fix it, he added.

“Fault repair may take a one day or a few more days, all depends on situation underneath”, the official said.

The Principal General Manager of Telecommunication N.K. Singh told PTI that it was the mistake of municipal corporation that allowed road cuts for sewer laying activity without consulting BSNL. He also assured that the engineers were on duty to correct it at the earliest, Mr. Singh assured.
