Following the expiry of excise duty sops, Honda Cars India, on Monday, increased the prices of its vehicles across segments in the range of Rs.15,000 to Rs.60,000. This will help the car maker partially offset the rising input costs.

Honda City has become dearer by up to Rs.48,000. The prices of petrol variants of the car have gone up by Rs.33,000 to Rs.46,000, while the diesel variants have become expensive in the range of Rs.37,000 to Rs.48,000.

The company has also hiked the price of its premium sports utility vehicle CR-V by Rs.60,000. However, it is yet to decide on the quantum of the price hike for its multi-purpose vehicle Mobilio. As an interim measure to give a boost to the struggling automobile industry, the government had announced a cut in the range of 4-6 per cent in excise duties on various vehicles. These benefits were applicable up to December 31, 2014, post which they lapsed due to no notification on extension. While Hyundai has already increased the prices of vehicles, market leader Maruti Suzuki is yet to announce a hike.
