Ericsson appoints Chris Houghton as India head

Ericsson India on Thursday appointed Chris Houghton as the head for India Region.

Mr. Houghton, who will join India business in June, will replace Fredrik Jejdling who will assume the role as head of Region sub-Saharan Africa.

In this new role Mr. Houghton will also take a seat on Ericsson’s Global Leadership Team and report to the India Region Chairman of Region India and Senior Vice President Asia-Pacific Mats H Olsson, Ericsson said in a statement.

Mr. Houghton is presently heading the Customer Unit UK and Ireland and working as managing director of Ericsson UK.

“Together with the team in India he (Houghton) will work to extend our footprint in the region and assist our customers in their work to capture value in a rapidly transforming telecoms market,” Ericsson president and CEO Hans Vestberg said.

Ericsson has around 15,000 resources in India and offices across 25 locations.
