Equitas ties up with CSK, launches yellow army savings account

The bank will offer interest rates of 6% to 6.5%.

To commemorate its association with the Indian Premium League (IPL) franchise Chennai Super Kings (CSK), the Chennai-based Equitas Small Finance Bank (SFB), on Thursday, rolled out ‘Yellow Army Savings Account’.

“We have designed savings account to give great thrill to all CSK fans and enhance cricket fever,” said Sanjeev Srivastava, president and country head (branch banking, liabilities, products and wealth management), Equitas Small Finance Bank. “While CSK stands for super fun, Equitas stands for fun banking.”

The IPL franchisee is making a come back after a two-year suspension. Equitas has been in business since September 2016. The 11th edition of IPL starts on April 7.

CSK players Dwayne Bravo and Murali Vijay unveiled the Yellow Army debit card with images and illustrations of Mahindra Singh Dhoni, Suresh Raina and Ravindra Jadeja. As part of the deal, jersey of CSK players would bear Equitas SFB logo on the lead arm and back of the helmet and cap.

According to him, the account will fetch an interest rate of 6% per annum for balance below ₹10 lakh and 6.5% per annum for balance above ₹10 lakh. The average quarterly balance requirement would be ₹10,000 per account.

The Yellow Army Visa debit card comes with personal accident cover of up to ₹5 lakh, air accident cover of ₹30 lakh and lost card liability of up to ₹25,000. Customers can also avail themselves exclusive offers on movie ticket-booking, food, entertainment and lifestyle and earn reward points for all purchases.

“The account holders are also entitled to a 15% discount on purchase of merchandise from CSK website,” said K.S Viswanathan, chief executive officer, Chennai Super Kings.
