Amid overall negative customer sentiments, auto OEMs (original equipment manufacturers) have lined up a slew of new launches at the upcoming Auto Expo 2014.
The Auto Expo is expected to showcase emerging trends and technology in the sector.
“Notwithstanding the slow down blues, vehicle makers have been coming out with new launches. All of them have understood that there is a good future in this country. This year’s show will be much bigger than the previous edition, and there is definitely enthusiasm,” Vikram Kirloskar, President, Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM), said.
“If you look at the past 10-year period, auto industry had a pretty decent growth amid some blips, and we expect similar decent growth in the next 10 years. So, there is definitely excitement among the auto makers to exhibit new products,” he added.
Vinod Dasari, Vice-President, SIAM, said the event was more of showcasing India and its future potential in auto sector. Despite slowdown concerns, the excitement was there and new launches would continue to happen, he added. “The slowdown also gives opportunities for companies to innovate if not discover anything new,” he said.
The 12 edition of Auto Expo, will happen in two venues for the first time during February 6-11, 2014 in New Delhi. While Motor Show will be held (February 7-11) at the India Export Mart (Greater Noida), the Component Show will be held (February 6-9) at the Pragati Maidan, New Delhi. Over 1,200 exhibitors are to participate in the Component Show.
