Alstom T&D India on Friday announced it has been awarded two contracts of Rs. 298 crore to supply two 400/220/66 kV gas-insulated sub-stations (GIS) for hydro power projects at Wangtoo and Gumma in Himachal Pradesh.
In a statement in New Delhi, the company said the order was bagged from L&T and HP Power Transmission Corporation Limited (HPPTCL) with the aim to improve the transmission capacity of HPPTCL for the evacuation of power generated by hydropower sources across the state. The scope of the Wangtoo project, worth approximately Rs. 15.5 crore, covers the design, engineering, manufacture, supply, testing, and commissioning of equipment.
The Gumma project, worth Rs. 14.3 crore, includes design, engineering, manufacture, supply, erection, testing, commissioning and covers civil works of 400 kV and 220 kV GIS substation on a turnkey basis.
Alstom is the leader in India’s GIS activity and has so far supplied over 500 GIS bays in India, covering a range of voltages from 66kV to 400kV. Over 50 per cent of the supplied solutions are produced in India. Alstom has been the pioneer in localising GIS manufacturing activity in India since 2009 at its facility in Padappai near Chennai.
