Actor-turned-writer Twinkle Khanna, whose column ‘Mrs Funnybones’ is hugely popular, says her husband Akshay Kumar is her editor.
She launched her first book Mrs Funnybones: She’s Just Like You and a Lot Like Me here on Tuesday. Twinkle said she had love for writing from her childhood.
“I have been writing for two years now. You all discovered it late... I had this since childhood,” she said.
The 40-year-old actor’s mother Dimple Kapadia, Akshay Kumar and close friends Aamir Khan and Karan Johar were present on the occasion. The other star guests included Jaya Bachchan and Sonali Bendre.
“I have many editors. He (Akshay) is my first editor,” Twinkle Khanna said, noting that Akshay would ask her to remove words or phrases in her drafts.
Twinkle’s tongue-in-cheek column “Mrs Funnybones” is a commentary on society and trends. The author said: “’Mrs. Funnybones is about how a modern woman looks at India and how India looks back at her. We live in a world where we have sent a satellite to Mars, but we are looking at the moon and praying for our husband’s long life.”
Displaying her witty side on the stage, the Jab Pyar Kisi Se Hota Hai actor said her husband, who is known for good comic timing in movies, gets paid in millions for it while, when it comes to her humour, she gets peanuts.
Laugh riot Aamir Khan chimed in with praise for her wit. “I have worked with her in a film and she has always had a great sense of humour,” Aamir said.
Twinkle shared some lighter moments with the star guests. “Aamir once went behind a rock to cry because his director didn’t listen to what he was saying,” she quipped. When Karan Johar asked her what he’d find in PK star Aamir’s phone, Twinkle came back with, “Pictures of naked aliens.”
Karan was not spared either. Twinkle revealed: “We were in boarding school together and he was constantly hungry for some reason. So he kept telling me to rob food for him from the canteen. Finally, I got fed up and told him ‘why don’t you run away?’” .
