Westland Ltd., children's author Anushka Ravishankar and children's publisher Sayoni Basu have launched Duckbill, a publishing house of books for children and young adults. With its publishing programme set to begin in late 2012, Duckbill's list comprises books for children from age six onwards with a primary focus on fiction. The company plans to publish about 25 titles a year, which would also include a host of digital products.

“We hope our books will be interesting and thought-provoking, but we would also like them to be curious, whimsical and joyful, just like the name Duckbill,” say Anushka and Sayoni.

“We chose the name because it sounds like fun, and fun is what books for children and young adults should be. But also because the platypus is a fascinating creature”
