As a prelude to The Hindu Best Fiction Award 2010 , a book reading session of one of the shortlisted works will be held in the city on October 20. A reading from Daisy Hasan's The To-Let House will be held on Wednesday at Landmark, Citi Centre, at 6 p.m. Grammy award winning singer Tanvi Shah will introduce the author, while theatre personality Yog Japee of Theatre Y would read extracts from the book.

The award is instituted by The Hindu Literary Review and is a precursor to its 20th anniversary. A panel of judges comprising writers and academicians shortlisted 11 books from the hundreds of entries received. The entries for the books were sent by the publisher. The books should have been published between June 2009 and June 2010. The winner of The Hindu Best Fiction Award 2010 would be announced at an award ceremony to be held on November 1 at Hotel Taj Connemara here. Daisy Hasan's debut novel, The To-Let House, is set in the 1980s and captures the author's childhood experiences in Shillong. Ms. Hasan was earlier long listed for the 2008 Man Asian Literary Prize.
