Renovation is on at Sri Meenakshi Amman samedha Sri Chokkanathaswamy Temple, Vizhudiyur, Thenipuram, Kudavasal taluk, Tiruvarur district. Ancient and dilapidated, the temple has exquisite images of Vinayaka, Subramanya, Dakshinamurthi and so on. Meenakshi here is a replica of the Madurai deity.
Beautiful idols of Srinivasa along with Sridevi and Bhudevi were found during excavation. The site is strewn with stones and pillars that are so broken, the inscriptions cannot be read.
