The Mudhra Award of Excellence (instituted in memory of the late Gnanamba and P. Obul Reddy) will be presented to V.P. Dhananjayan and Shanta Dhananjayan on December 9, during the inauguration of Mudhra’s 16th Fine Arts Festival. The fest which spans 31 days, has a variety of events. Apart from vocal and instrumental concerts by eminent artists, there will be special programmes such as ‘Sangeethamum-Sankeertanamum’ by Dr. Ganesh and Udayalur Kalyanaraman, two plays (Swasam and Nadagam), a special dance performance by the Dhananjayans, ‘Raga Vaibhavam’, a thematic concert by Radha Bhaskar, talent promotion concerts, Cuddalore Gopi Bhagavatar’s Panduranga Leela, a music appreciation programme by O.S. Thiagarajan and Radha Bhaskar and ‘Sthree Tyagaraja Pancharatnam’, group singing exclusively by women artists. The grand finale on January 8, 2013, will be a four-hour concert by Madurai T.N.
