Director Suresh Krishna, who has delivered several hits with Rajinikanth, has written a book. Titled My Days With Baasha , it throws light on the incidents that happened during the making of three of the Superstar’s biggest hits — Annamalai, Veera and Baasha. The book, to be made available in three languages from November, has been co-authored by Malathi Rangarajan of The Hindu .

Special for moms

The audio launch of Thankar Bachan’s Ammavin Kaipesi , at the Sathyam Cinemas on Monday, will be remembered for a long time to come. Starting with the invitation, which gently urged guests to bring their mothers along, the event was special in more ways than one. The film, which features Shanthanoo and Iniya in the lead, has music by Rohit Kulkarni and is about the love of a mother for her son. It shows how people’s priorities change with age and how they tend to neglect their mothers.

On the occasion, senior citizens (all women) from an old age home narrated how they had been abandoned by their children. The event was attended by celebrities, including actor Suhasini Mani Ratnam, who had brought her mother along.

“I have been acting for over 30 years but my mother has never accompanied me to any of the shoots. This is the first time she has agreed to come on stage. That’s because of the great regard she has for Thankar Bachan,” she said.

Hansika in distress

Actor Hansika, who is to begin work on Singam 2 today at Tuticorin, is annoyed. Reason? She was robbed while shooting in Switzerland for Settai , the Tamil remake of the Hindi hit Delhi Belly .

Hansika’s mom said, “Hansika was shooting along with Arya in Geneva when the incident occurred. We were in a van and Hansika had a bag in which she had her make-up items collected from all over the world over the past four years. The bag, which also had Rs. 2 lakh in cash and Hansika’s phone, was stolen. Luckily for us, our passports were not in it. Otherwise, we would have been stranded there.”

Sources say that a complaint has been filed with the local police there.
