Billa 2

What it is about…

The IN Entertainment presents Billa II, produced by Sunir Kheterpal, Suresh Balaje and George Pius. Directed by Chakri Toleti, the film features Ajith Kumar and Parvathi Omanakuttan in the lead. R. D. Rajasekar has handled the camera, while Yuvan Shankar Raja has scored the music. Suresh Urs is the editor and V. Selvakumar is the art director. Na. Muthukumar has written the lyrics. The audio of the film was recently released without any fanfare on Ajith's birthday (May 1).

Music highlights

There are six songs in the album. The music director has lent his voice to two of them. ‘Yaedho mayakkam' sung by Yuvan, Tanvi Shah and Suvi Suresh is the best. Andrea Jeremiah's ‘Madurai ponnu' is sure to click with the masses. ‘Unakkulle mirugam,' sung by Ranjith, is good. ‘Idhayam,' sung by Swetha Pandit, grows on you on repeated listening. ‘Gangster' by Yuvan and Stefny is a foot-tapping number. The last on the album is the theme by Yuvan.

What they say…

Producers Sunir Kheterpal, Suresh Balaje and George Pius: Sunir in his earlier stint as COO with a Mumbai-based entertainment company had worked with us on films made under the banner ‘A Wide Angle Creations.' Now, as CEO at IN Entertainment he is exploring the possibility of launching a mega project in Tamil. After several meetings, we hit upon a prequel to one of the most popular franchises, Billa II . We met up with Ajith Kumar and within seven days of the meeting, the project was on the roll. Now that the film is on the verge of release, we look back to see the milestones Billa II has crossed in terms of production value, technological highpoints, trailer record on YouTube and the pre-sale records. With so much of effort having gone into the film, we're sure the audiences will be pleased with it.

Director Chakri Toleti:Billa II is my second film and I wanted it to be different in every respect. When we hit upon the idea of coming up with a prequel to Billa , I was happy as it would be an original story — Billa was inspired by Don in Hindi. It was fun to work with the talented artists and technicians of the film. This is a story about a man who opposes himself. A typical ‘Don' film, the story has all the ingredients to succeed at the box office.

Hero Ajith Kumar: This is the first time a prequel to a popular film has been made in the Tamil film industry. I enjoyed playing the part of David Billa from a tender age. His transformation into a great don has to be seen to be believed. There are a number of noteworthy sequences in the film, but I enjoyed doing each and every scene.

Music director Yuvan Shankar Raja: I give each film my 100 per cent. Billa was a success; I want Billa II to be a bigger success. The audio has evoked a positive response from some of my die-hard fans.
