Annamayya Nada Ranjani, a local cultural organisation of artistes and music lovers, conducted a musical nite at Annamacharya Kalamandir, Tirupati, to mark its first anniversary this Tuesday.
The programme churned out the best of Annamayya's numbers on Lord Venkateswara.
The first programme was Annamayya Sankirtana Lahari , a vocal concert by the trio, C.B. Ujwal, K.E. Nandini and M. Devi Priyanka, all of them students of Varna Music Academy.
They sang Annamacharya's popular numbers, Kondalalo Nelakonna (Hindolam), Srimannarayana (Bhouli), Narayanathe (Behaag), Entha Matramuna (Brundavani, Mayamalavagoula), Edutanunnadu (Bhujangini), Thandanana (Bhouli) and Podagantimayya (Mohana) with élan. R. Ravishankar on violin and B. Gopal on Mrudangam proved to be effective accompaniments.
Muppavarapu Venkata Simhachala Sastry Bhagavathar, a Kendra Sangeetha Nataka Academy awardee, who teaches Harikatha in the TTD's SV College of Music and Dance, gave a ‘rendition of the same on the glory of the Lord, supported by L. Jayaram on violin and P. Ravindrudu on Mrudangam.
The Nada Ranjani's President E. Muni Kannaiah called this a befitting way of paying tributes to the Lord through his favourite numbers penned by the saint-poet Annamayya.
