TTD to release CDs soon
TIRUPATI: The Tirumala-Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) has fulfilled the task of digitising all the inscriptions found engraved on the walls of the sanctum sanctorum of the temple of Lord Venkateswara, Tirumala. The digitisation became necessary following an outcry from the devotees and historians that the future generation would have no chance to see the inscriptions once the TTD fixed gold-plated panels on the walls as part of its ambitious programme. It has already mobilised about 150 kg as donation from philanthropists.
It is to neutralise the criticism that the TTD has embarked upon the task of producing CDs containing digital pictures of the inscriptions found on the walls in five languages, viz; Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, English and Hindi.
The complete set of CDs were on Wednesday officially released at a simple function held in the TTD's Sri Venkateswara Museum attended among others by the Board Chairman D.K. Adikesavulu and the Executive Officer I.Y.R. Krishna Rao.

Tirumala reporter adds: The TTD has deposited in various nationalised banks a staggering quantity of 4,475 kg of gold received by way of offerings from the visiting devotees in its temple Hundi.
Disclosing this to mediapersons, TTD chairman D. K. Adikesavulu said that the TTD board of trustees which met recently decided to deposit about 3,000 kg gold with State Bank of India (SBI), 1,125 kg gold with Corporation Bank and the rest 650 kilograms with Indian Overseas Bank.
