Obama in India
Former United States President Barack Obama arrived in India on a three-day visit on January 25, 2015. Mr. Obama and former First Lady Michelle Obama was invited as the chief guest of honour for the Republic Day Parade. Upon his arrival, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, making a departure from protocol, received them at the Palam Air Force base. Mr. Obama was given a 21-gun salute and a ceremonial welcome at the forecourt of Rashtrapati Bhavan, where they also met ex-Indian President Pranab Mukherjee. Later Mr. Obama also participated in a round table with CEOs.
