Banthia enters semifinals

Fourth seed Siddhant Banthia defeated Dev Javia 7-6(5), 7-5 to enter the boys’ singles semifinals of the HCL Asian B1 junior tennis championships here on Thursday.

Banthia will now run into the top seed Kazakhstan’s Dostanbek Tashbulatov, who accounted for No. 6 Sacchitt Sharrma 6-4, 2-6, 6-4.

The results: Boys, quarterfinals: Dostanbek Tashbulatov (Kaz) bt Sacchitt Sharrma 6-4, 2-6, 6-4; Siddhant Banthia bt Dev Javia 7-6(5), 7-5; Seon Yong Han (Kor) bt Mann Shah 6-0, 6-4; Sergey Fomin (Uzb) bt Megh Bhargav Patel 6-2, 6-1.

Doubles, semifinals: Christian Didier Chin (Mas) & Sergey Fomin (Uzb) bt Siddhant Banthia & Megh Bhargav Patel 6-3, 6-4; Dev Javia & Mann Shah bt Seon Yong Han (Kor) & Thantub Suksumrarn (Tha) 6-1, 6-2.

Girls, quarterfinals: Hong Yi Cody Wong (Hkg) bt Mana Kawamura (Jpn) 6-0, 2-6, 7-5; Mananchaya Sawangkaew (Tha) bt Funa Kozaki (Jpn) 6-4, 7-5; Priska Madelyn Nugroho (Ina) bt Jiaqi Wang (Chn) 5-7, 6-3, 6-4; Mai Napatt Nirundorn (Tha) bt Yasmina Karimjanova (Uzb) 6-4, 7-6(4).
