The criticism raised by Indian Chef-de-Mission Raj Singh regarding lack of adequate facilities and vegetarian food at the Athletes Village was rebutted by Commonwealth Games Federation and Glasgow 2014 here on Friday.
Addressing the daily press briefing, Village chieftain Gavin Hastings said no complaints had been raised by any of the visiting delegations so far and that the reaction from the Indian team head was a bit too far-fetched.
“I think the atmosphere at the Village has been wonderful ever since it opened its doors to the athletes and officials. Everyone seemed to be happy with what has been on offer and just everyone is walking around with a smile,” he said.
CGF chief executive Mike Hooper made it clear that the federation was very happy with the facilities at the Village.
“We are very pleased with the Village. I have not received any complaints so far and I think it is inappropriate for people to draw any comparison to New Delhi. The Village here has been provided all facilities in accordance with our directions.”
Hooper said he was willing to listen to any complaint the Indian delegation had. “But they should approach us with their complaints,” he added.
