National women’s champion Mampi Das claimed the gold in air pistol in the 24th Meeting of Shooting Hopes junior international meet at Plzen, Czech Republic, on Friday.
Qualifying second, 0.2 points behind Maria Ivanova of Russia, in a strong field of 101 shooters, Mampi shot 206.4 to beat Marta Zeljkovic of Croatia by 2.3 points for the gold. She had 10.8 and 10.5 on her last two shots to finish in style.
It was Aayushi Gupta who led initially, after qualifying in eighth place, but lost the race towards the climax to the Croat, who nosed ahead for a better medal by 0.4 points.
