Warnings on economy

August 26, 2019 01:54 am | Updated 01:54 am IST

It is indeed a surprise that the nation has not reacted to the need of the hour to the extent the situation demands. The economy that is on downturn takes away FII, jobs and industries. Even the gems in the field who have been appointed to manage the show as Governors of RBI and Economic Advisers are leaving their assignments in frustration and crisis is already spreading its tentacles. In a situation like this, instead of addressing these tsunami warnings, the ruling dispensation is engaged in pursuing its ideological agenda. The way Kashmir is being treated is a clear signal to the entire nation that one should toe the line of the government, however right or wrong its actions are, or get branded as anti national. By resigning his post as one of the best IAS officers, Kannan Gopinathan has given voice for all those who feel their voice of dissent being choked. Though he is not the first to do so, his response to the present situation should bring a change in the minds of the rulers as well as in the civil society to save democracy and secularism.
