The article “Taking the aggression out of masculinity” by Sanjay Srivastava (January 3) carries a photo of Swami Vivekananda and carries the comment that his masculine photographic-pose was only one aspect of the cult of masculinity encouraged and tolerated by nationalism. We strongly feel that the use of Swami Vivekananda’s photo and the comment are totally inappropriate to the context of the article.
The whole world knows that Swamiji was a pioneer in safeguarding women’s rights, dignity, equality and their emancipation. Instead of joining the nation in spreading the man-making and character-building message of Swamiji to the youth, you have thought it fit to publish an inappropriate and wholly misleading reference about Swamiji in your daily.
