Shiamak Davar has decided its time to do his bit for society. Davar, who is currently concentrating on reviving ancient dance forms, said he intends to work with young children to make sure that these forms do not fade into oblivion. “I am doing a show for television where I will work with ancient dance forms like the Vasudev and the Balya and would love to teach these to kids,” said Davar. He added that he was going to “focus on teaching dance to children from dysfunctional backgrounds or are emotionally disturbed and have not been able to share a healthy relationship with their parents.” He believed that children from such families needed an outlet for their emotions and creativity to channelise their energy better. “Dancing can helps you unwind and focus,” said he. But one thing is certain. “Nobody who is unhealthy or overweight will be able to join.” He intends to monitor that before the children take his class. Those who can’t join now will be advised lose that weight and then come back. “I will take it forward from there,” assures Davar. Now here’s someone willing to practise what he preaches.
