The Ahmedabad Anti-Terrorist Squad police have arrested two persons, including an Army jawan , allegedly for spying for Pakistan.

The police sources said on Thursday that Ibrahim, who is posted in the MES department of the Indian Army in the border district of Kutch, was under a close watch for sometime. He was believed to be procuring important secret defence documents and passing it on to his Pakistani contacts through his brother-in-law, Osman Abdullah.

Both were arrested from Bhuj, the district headquarter of Kutch, on Wednesday night and were produced before the Bhuj court on Thursday which granted them nine days police remand for further questioning. The police said they were being brought to Ahmedabad where they would be grilled jointly by the police and the Army authorities.

The police believe that Ibrahim was acting as a Pakistani spy for quite sometime and could have passed on some sensitive documents to his contacts across the border.
