: Rebutting the Congress party’s claim that the transfer of former head of Enforcement Directorate (ED) Rajan Katoch was politically motivated, senior BJP leader and Urban Development Minister Venkaiah Naidu Wednesday said the administrative change was carried out since it was difficult for Mr .Katoch to “manage additional charge” of ED Director.

Mr. Naidu said that the case of National Herald was brought to the notice of the ED after the trial court took cognisance of it in June 2014. “Since then, internal process of

inquiry is being done by ED. It is incorrect to say that internal inquiry in this case started in ED after Mr. Karnal Singh was appointed in charge Director,” he said.

However, Congress is not disputing the fact that the case was being looked at by ED during Mr. Katoch’s time. The party points the flaw saying since Mr. Katoch had closed the case, the new person came in and reopened it.
