The glorious history and distinguished track record of Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) in coal exploration and mining spheres besides other activities found expression in a wide array of events organised as part of the company’s foundation day celebrations held in Kothagudem on Tuesday.

A festive atmosphere prevailed at Prakasham stadium, the venue of the SCCL’s foundation day main fete, as the different wings of the company organised a host of events, including cultural programmes, highlighting the company’s history and expertise in coal mining.

SCCL Director (P&P) A. Manohar Rao, Director (E&M) P. Ramesh Babu, representatives of various trade unions including the company’s recognised union and others participated in the ceremony.

The scintillating performance by the members of the band of Scouts and Guides of the Singareni Collieries District Association enthralled the audience at the inaugural session of the ceremony.

The scouts and guides displayed a wooden replica of the Kolkata-based historical Howrah Bridge at the stadium grounds, showcasing engineering marvel and creative acumen.

The SCCL’s exploration, environmental, safety and other wings besides the Singareni Seva Samithi set up stalls highlighting their achievements in their respective fields on the occasion.

A 2K run was organised earlier in the day in connection with the foundation day celebrations.
