Appreciating the Karimnagar Commissionerate for instilling confidence among people by taking up adequate security measures, Karimnagar MP B. Vinod Kumar called upon the latter to play an active role in the programmes taken up by the police in the district.

Mr. Vinod Kumar along with MLA G. Kamalakar, MLC Naradasu Laxman Rao, Mayor S. Ravinder Singh, Commissioner of Police V.B. Kamalasan Reddy, Collector Sarfaraz Ahmed, Municipal Commissioner K. Shashanka and others inaugurated community CCTV cameras on Doctors’ Street in the town on Sunday.

A total of 43 CCTV cameras were installed at all vital locations on the Doctors’ Street with donation of ₹36 lakh made by the doctors in the town. Speaking on the occasion, the MP said the installation of cameras would help check crime. He also urged those from the business community and others to install the CCTV cameras for their security.

Legislator Gangula Kamalakar said the CCTV cameras were installed as part of the Smart and Safe City programme and appreciated the police for taking several measures in this regard.

The Commissioner of Police said the district police have set a target of installing 10,000 CCTV cameras in the entire district. He said people were coming forward voluntarily to help install CCTV cameras to check crime in residential areas and other places. He also lauded the doctors in the town for contributing funds for installing the CCTV cameras.
