IIT-H ranked 9th in country

The Indian Institute of Technology, Hyderabad (IIT-H) has been ranked No. 9 among all engineering institutes as per the India Rankings 2018 conducted by the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF), Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India.

The Institute has improved on its last year’s position of No.10.

IIT-H also moved up from rank 26 to 22 in the ‘Overall Category’ this year.

Prakash Javadekar, Minister for Human Resource Development, announced the results at a function held at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi, on Tuesday, and presented the awards to the institution, according to a release.

IIT-H director U.B. Desai said: “We are happy to be in top 10 for three years in a row. The credit for this achievement goes to the faculty, who have done a tremendous job in research and development, teaching and institute development. Credit also goes to the students who are at the forefront of research and development and are bringing laurels to the institute.”

The institute improved its rankings and scores on key parameters such as Research and Professional Practice (RPC) and Perception. IITH recorded a score of 44.2 in RPC this year, as compared to 36.21 last year. In Perception, the score went up to 36.94 this year, compared to 29.72 in the previous year.
