Six children — two child labourers and four street children — were rescued by joint teams of the police and Women and Child Development Agency personnel besides the representatives of NGOs in various mandals of Kothagudem division on Sunday.

According to sources, special teams found two child labourers employed in a tiles factory in Bayyaram mandal on the penultimate day of the month-long Operation Muskaan-II. Four street children were rescued from Garla, Yellendu and Karepalli mandals, sources added.

Over the month, around 40 children including child labourers, street children, domestic workers and school drop-outs were rescued by the special teams in Yellendu and other mandals in Kothagudem, considered the industrial hub of Telangana.
