Merry-making begins at Adilabad

A series of jataras to be held in the next three months in different mandals. The famous Nagoba jatara of the Mesram clan of Gonds will be held towards January end and it will be followed by Shampur jatara in Shampur of Utnoor mandal. The season comes to an end in March next year.

The Jainad jatara that began in Jainad mandal five days ago has signalled the beginning of the jatara season in the west of Adilabad district. A series of jataras will be held at different places in Bela, Adilabad, Indervelli and Utnoor mandals in the coming three months.

The Jainad jatara, associated with the ancient Laxminarayana Swamy temple, will be followed by the Penganga Jatara and the one in Adilabad, which is associated with Sri Ramchandragopalakrishna Mutt. The Sadalpur jatara, held at Sadalpur tribal temple, will follow the Adilabad jatara.
