Team Anna meets Advani on Lokpal Bill

But he says BJP will not be able to give its views immediately

June 25, 2011 03:08 am | Updated November 17, 2021 01:20 am IST - NEW DELHI:

Anna Hazare and his team of civil activists on Friday began meeting political parties to garner support for their version of the Lokpal Bill ahead of the government exercise to elicit opinions and arrive at a broad political consensus on the issue at an all-party meeting on July 3.

Three members of the team — Arvind Kejriwal, Kiran Bedi and Manish Sisodia — met veteran BJP leader L.K. Advani at his residence. However, Mr. Advani reportedly told them that the BJP would not be able to give its views immediately as these were yet to be formalised and he could say nothing for the moment as party president Nitin Gadkari and Leaders of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha Sushma Swaraj and Arun Jaitley were not in town.

It was decided that ahead of the all-party meeting, BJP leaders would welcome a briefing and discussion with Team Anna.
