Valliyoor police arrested two students of Government Higher Secondary School after a group of students allegedly issued a ‘death threat’ to a teacher and her husband.
Police sources said a group of students from East Valliyoor, studying class XI, had developed enmity with another group and brought lethal weapons to the school on Monday to settle scores. One of them, who wrote the annual examination, had brought a knife and a mobile phone to the exam hall.
The teacher, who was the invigilator of the hall, confiscated the knife and the mobile phone and handed them over to the headmaster. As one of their associates was caught with the weapon, the other students who had also brought weapons hurriedly hid them. On information from the head of the institution, Valliyoor police picked up two students for interrogation. Agitated over this, a few students went to the house of the teacher and issued a “death threat” to her and her husband.
Meanwhile, the police arrested the two students and produced them before a court. They were remanded and sent to the Observation Home in Palayamkottai.
