Student enrolment drive to be launched soon

An estimated 21,000 children who have completed five years of age would be enrolled in schools in the district during a special student enrolment drive to be conducted across the district, Collector N. Subbaiyan said.

Inaugurating the enrolment drive at Manojipatti Panchayat Union Middle School in Neelagiri panchayat here on Wednesday, he said teachers should ensure that no eligible children was omitted during the campaign. Teachers and headmasters should work in close coordination to make the campaign a success. He said that various welfare schemes and benefits were being extended to students of government schools. Government schools have come up with good academic performance on a par with private schools. Shortcomings, if any, would be rectified immediately. Enrolment in schools was only a starting point for ensuring good education and parents should ensure that their wards were well educated. All necessary steps were being taken to achieve cent per cent literacy in the district, he added .
