V.K. Sasikala, close aide of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa and co-accused in the wealth case against her, has filed a criminal petition in the Karnataka High Court challenging a lower court order rejecting her plea seeking various documents pertaining to the case.

C. Manishankhar, counsel for Ms. Sasikala, filed the petition on Monday.

The petition challenges the special court order earlier this month rejecting the application filed by Ms. Sasikala seeking various documents which have been filed by the prosecution but not marked as exhibits in court.

The petition is likely to come up for hearing on Wednesday.

On April 3, 2012 special court judge B.M. Mallikarjunaiah rejected the application filed by Mr. Manishankhar and adjourned the case to April 12, 2012 for further recording of Ms. Sasikala’s statement.
