Get permission before April 30 for Chitra Pournami Annadhanam

Those interested in providing Annadhanam in Tiruvannamalai during Chitra Pournami that falls on May 3 and 4, are asked to get prior permission from the district administration.

According to a release people who wish to perform Annadhanam should get an application form from the office of Assistant Director (Panchayat) located in the second floor of the Collectorate here. The filled in form should be submitted along with requisite details and documents before April 30.

The forms submitted after this date would not be considered for granting permission. Five passport size photos of donors and address proof should be enclosed.

Even after getting permission, the donors should not cook food on Girivalam Path and they would be allowed to donate food prepared outside. Hence there was no permission to the Annadhanam providers to use inflammable materials like LPG, kerosene and fire wood. Only quality and hygienic food would be allowed to be donated. The donors shall not use plastic disposables to distribute food and they will not be permitted to distribute water sachets. They may use leaves, thonnai and areca nut plates.

The donors should bring dust bins with them to collect used plates, leaves and other garbage generated during the donation.

The donors should bring with them sufficient personnel and clean the place after the donation. Police action would be taken on those who donate food without permission.

Strict rules were stipulated for temporary shops that may come up all along the Girivalam Path during the festival. Prior permission was necessary for setting up of temporary shops in the limits of Athiyandhal, Aanaipirandhan, Adi Annamalai, Aadaiyur and Vengikkal village panchayats. Moreover, temporary shops set up along Girivalam Path would not be permitted to cook food there in their shops. Selling camphor in temporary shops has also been prohibited, the release adds.
