India on Wednesday said it has “sufficient evidence” to show that mutilation of the bodies of its two soldiers was carried out by Pakistan Army regulars and that Islamabad has been asked to take action against its Army commanders for the incident.
India considered the mutilation of its soldiers’ bodies “a strong act of provocation”, Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Gopal Baglay said.
The blood samples collected from the site in Krishna Ghati sector along the Line of Control (LoC) matched with the blood of the two soldiers killed. The “blood trail” showed that the perpetrators entered the Indian side from Pakistan occupied Kashmir and returned to where they came from, he said.
Pakistan High Commissioner Abdul Basit, who was summoned by Foreign Secretary S. Jaishankar, however, denied that Indian soldiers' bodies were mutilated, he said.
According to Mr. Baglay, Mr. Basit said he would convey the “content of the démarche” to his government.
