Former Police Commissioner of Mumbai Arup Patnaik joined the Biju Janata Dal here on Wednesday.

The 1979-batch retired IPS officer joined Odisha’s ruling party in the presence of Chief Minister and BJD president Naveen Patnaik.

“Arup will prove to be a valuable asset for the party,” said the Chief Minister while welcoming the retired IPS officer into his party fold.

Several Ministers, party MPs and legislators were present when for the former Mumbai Police Commissioner formally the joined the BJD.

The former top cop thanked the Chief Minister for providing him an opportunity to work for the people of his home State.
