Reacting to Revolutionary Socialist Party general secretary T.J. Chandrachoodan’s attack on him, Communist Party of India State secretary Pannian Ravindran has said that the RSP leader’s remark that the CPI is a party which could not even find a candidate of its own was uncalled for and did not deserve any reply.
Mr. Ravindran said on Tuesday that Prof. Chandrachoodan’s remarks did not behove a leader of his stature. The RSP leader must clarify which side of the political divide his party stood.
RSP’s ‘silence’Contrary to what had been stated by Prof. Chandrachoodan, RSP leadership was silent when the Janata Dal (Secular) left the Left Democratic Front (LDF). His party colleagues had also opted not to take a Rajya Sabha seat when it was offered to them to avoid sending Prof. Chandrachoodan to the Rajya Sabha, the CPI leader pointed out.
‘Earlier stance’Prof. Chandrachoodan, the CPI State secretary said, had also told him over phone that he was opposed to the RSP leaving the LDF and joining the United Democratic Front camp.
