Actor Mohanlal is tipped to lead the Association of Malayalam Movie Artistes when a new governing body will be elected at a meeting on June 24..

Edavela Babu will be the new general secretary. AMMA president Innocent had indicated his wish to step down from the post. It is learnt that as vice president of AMMA, Mohanlal, being an acceptable candidate for all, will most likely be selected for the post.

Edavela Babu had been the secretary of the association for 18 years.

Since there are no other nominations for the post, both are expected to be elected unanimously. The official announcement will be made at the annual general body meeting here on June 24.

K.B. Ganesh Kumar and Mukesh as vice presidents, Siddique as joint secretary, Jagadish as treasurer will be among the other members on the governing body.

Eleven of the 17 members on the governing body are already part of the team. Indrans, Sudheer Karamana, Jayasurya, Baburaj, Asif Ali, Tini Tom, Aju Varghese, Honey Rose, Swetha Menon, Rachana Narayanankutty, and Mutthumani are among those nominated to the governing team.

It will be a governing body that will have better representation for women so far.

The final phase of the election process will conclude on June 14 after which the complete list of the new members on the governing body will become clear.
