Citing that the Congress-led UPA government at the Centre failed to control inflation and price rise, BJP general secretary Arti Mehra said on Friday that the government has failed on all fronts.
Addressing a press conference here, the secretary said that poor people were going hungry because the government was not sensitive. The country’s farmers had produced enough food grains, and the country had buffer stocks of 20 million tonnes. However, the government was not distributing them properly and heaps of food grains were getting spoilt.
Ms. Mehra, who was here to participate in the nation-wide “jail bharo” agitation of BJP against price rise, said that prices of essential commodities were shooting up because of speculative trade. The government lacked the political will or concern to check the trend as it was fully immersed in corruption.
She demanded that the murder of Yuva Morcha leader K.T. Jayachandran should probed by the Central Bureau of Investigation.
