The Kochi city police have arrested the driver of a popular South Indian actor on charges of kidnapping and molesting her last night.
Police identified the arrested as Martin, a native of Koratty in Thrissur.
Preliminary investigations revealed that Martin, who had been working with the actor for the last couple of years, had been part of a conspiracy to kidnap her.
Meanwhile, the police have identified Sunilkumar a.k.a. Pulsar Suni, a history sheeter from Perumbavur in Ernakulam as key accused in the case.
Besides Pulsar Suni, the police are on the lookout for three more persons connection with the case.
During investigation, police also traced records of phone conversations and text messages between Martin and Pulsar Suni.
The incident took place late on Saturday when a gang led by Pulsar Suni intercepted the actor’s car on the National Highway 544 near Parambayam and forcefully shifted her to another vehicle.
As per a complaint, the gang members molested her while inside the mobile caravan and even shot her pictures and videos in compromising postions.
The accused got off at Palarivattom and escaped in another car.
The actor then took shelter in a director’s house in Kakkanad, who in turn alerted the police. The police later subjected her to a medical examination and collected statements.
