Escaped prisoner nabbed

A life convict who escaped from the Central Jail here was nabbed from Thalassery hours after the jailbreak was noticed by the authorities.

The inmate, identified as Mohandas, 43, alias Mohanan, of Ottappalam in Palakkad who had been serving a life sentence since April 29, 2009, was arrested from Thalassery in the afternoon. The jail authorities said he was found missing after he was taken outside for some construction work at around 10 a.m. They immediately informed the police here.

The police said that Mohandas was captured on the rail track between Thalassery and Mahe by a police team led by Deputy Superintendent of Police Prince Abraham.
