Youth communities clash creates tension in Tumkur

There was tension in Sira town in Tumkur district following a quarrel between youths of two communities on Sunday. Chaos prevailed after the youths fought over honking around 8.30 p.m. Rumours spread across the town that youths of one community had assaulted youths of another community.

Deputy Commissioner K.S. Sathya Murthy told The Hindu that the situation is under control now. Section 144 has been imposed in Sira town till October 3.

Superintendent of Police Raman Gupta, who is camping in the town, said, “We have arrested 20 people in connection with the incident.”
