Water release stepped up

The catchment areas of the Sharavati, Bhadra, and Tunga received heavy rain on Wednesday, following which discharge from Linganamakki, Bhadra, and Gajanur reservoirs built across them, respectively, was enhanced.

The discharge of water from Linganamakki reservoir, which was at the rate of 15,993 cusecs on Tuesday, was increased to 44,000 cusecs on Wednesday. As heavy rain pounded Tirthahalli, Sringeri and Koppa taluks, the catchment areas of Tunga, water release from Gajanur reservoir was increased to the rate of 24,976 cusecs from 17,368 cusecs on Tuesday.

Similarly, the discharge from Bhadra river, which was at the rate of 7,581 cusecs on Tuesday, was enhanced to 9,001 cusecs.
