PSI suspended on bribery charge

April 21, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 05:43 am IST - HUBBALLI:

A police sub-inspector attached to Mulagund Police Station in Gadag district, who was accused of receiving bribe from a person, was suspended on Wednesday.

Gadag Superintendent of Police K.T. Balakrishna said that action was taken against police sub-inspector Raju Bilagi based on a preliminary inquiry report submitted by the Circle Inspector of Police of Mulagund.

He said that prima facie it was found that the sub-inspector had received bribe for favouring a man who indulged in illegal activities. A departmental inquiry had been ordered against him, Mr. Balakrishna said.

The issue came to light after a video grab of the PSI accepting bribe was aired by news channels on Wednesday.
