Man arrested for stealing car on the pretext of taking a drop

The City police have arrested a 24-year-old man on charges of stealing a car from a Tanzanian student after getting into the car on the pretext of taking a drop.

Police said the accused, identified as Syed Dastu, a car mechanic from Bengaluru, who hailed the car belonging to Tanzanian national, Daniel Megopa, at CIPET college junction in Metagalli police station limits on November 4. After getting into the car, the accused engaged Daniel in a chat and took him to a tea stall in Srirangapatna. While Daniel was answering a call, Syed Dastu allegedly drove away with the car.

The police have arrested the accused and recovered the car from him.
