Homoeopath Rudresh chosen for Nadoja award

Kannada University’s 25th Nudi Habba to be held today

Homoeopath B.T. Rudresh will be conferred the title of “Nadoja” (a degree equivalent to honorary D.Litt.) by Kannada University, Hampi, at its 25th “Nudi Habba” (convocation) on Friday.

As many as 215 degrees, including three D. Litt., 100 Ph.D., 74 M.Phil., 35 postgraduation in M.A, Visual Arts, and Music will be conferred on the occasion. In addition, 589 students who have completed their PG courses in various subjects through distance education and 139 students who have completed their diploma courses will be given certificates.

Vice-Chancellor Mallika Ghanti told presspersons here on Thursday that the degrees will be conferred by Governor Vajubhai Vala, who is also the Chancellor of the university and Minister for Higher Education Basavaraj Rayaraddi, who is the Pro-Chancellor, at Navaranga Open Air Auditorium at 5 p.m. Ms. Ghanti informed that as many as 47 applications had been received by the Nadoja selection committee of which three were chosen and forwarded to the Governor for his approval. In turn, the Governor cleared the name of Dr. Rudresh.

Justice N. Kumar, Judge of the High Court of Karnataka (retired), will be delivering the Nudi Habba address.

A native of Chikmagaluru, Dr. Rudresh, according to her, practices in Bengaluru and has made a name in the field of medicine by propagating Homoeopathy as an alternative to Allopathy for over three decades. Dr. Rudresh has to his credit treating infertility and curing killer diseases like cancer, she said, adding that he is also a writer, orator and a teacher and has penned several books.

He is the recipient of several awards and titles, including the honorary doctorate from Kuvempu University, Eminent Teacher award from Rajiv Gandhi University for Medical Science, and Rajyotsava award.

Earlier during the day, a symposium titled “Karnataka Tomorrow” will be held in which G.K. Govindrao, actor and thinker, Chandrashekar T.R., development economist, and R. Poornima, journalist, will speak on various developmental issues concerning the State. One hundred books published by university will also be released on the occasion.

D. Panduranga Babu, Registrar, and deans of various faculties, were present on the occasion.
